Innovative South East-based plastics, print, graphics, acrylic display,
signage and point-of-sale company, Key2 Group, has just been featured on
an exciting new TV show for motor enthusiasts and petrol heads.
Supercar Megabuild on National Geographic is presented weekly by Dan
Baruffo and West Life’s Shane Lynch. The programme features a different
supercar each week and then attempts to pitch its powers against another
vehicle, in this case, a Ducati racing bike.
Key2 Group - which already brands
all the Ducati racing bikes for the
Moto Rapido Ducati team - is the
largest and most comprehensive
manufacturer of its type in
Hampshire. The company was
approached by Shine North TV to
design bespoke vehicle livery for
the bike to make it look similar to
the stunning black and white £2M
McLaren P1 supercar.
Key2 Group specialises in high
quality branding for businesses
ranging from local companies to
global brands with recent projects
completed for household names
such as Coca Cola, L’Oreal and
French Connection.
The TV production company then spent a day with the Key2 Group team
and filmed the bespoke vinylsbeing designed, printed and applied to the
previously all-black superbike - which had already been modified with
carbon fibre elements to ensure it was aerodynamic enough to attempt to
outrace the McLaren.
“It was very exciting to have a TV production crew here” confirmed
Managing Director, Mike Keating. “We have so many exciting state-of-theart
print machines here that they found it really interesting. The crew and
Dan, the presenter, were keen to film on our mezzanine print level as well
as in our workshop where Lee Richards, from our print team, applied the
bespoke colour-matched pearl white vinyls to the bike to make it look like a
McLaren.”
The programme originally
aired on Thursday 6th July and
was repeated again on
National Geographic on
Tuesday 11th July. “It was a really unusual project
to work on” concluded Mike
Keating. “I’m really proud of
our entire team for the help
and assistance they gave the
TV crew and for the
professionalism, expertise and
design excellence they demonstrated. It’s a proud moment for a local
company to be featured on a show like this and it really highlighted the fact
that we are truly ‘bespoke’ and can turn our hand to anything.”
Just in case you wondered, the winning vehicle was 5 seconds quicker on
the lap…
To give you a clue, the Key2 Group branded ‘go faster’ stripes must have
worked…!
